Ephrata has something for everyone all year round. Spring welcomes hikers to the trail system and residents to the city parks, while summertime beckons swimmers to Splashzone or the nearby lakes. Autumn presents football games and hunting season, while winter opens the snow season for cross-country skiing, sledding and other outdoor sports. Additionally, the Historical Museum &Village of Grant County provides a peek into pioneer life with a restored one-room school house, a saloon, blacksmith shop, print shop and more. LOCAL EVENTS Baseball, soccer and track fill out the spring schedule for all ages, while summer opens up with Ephrata’s annual Sage and Sun Festival featuring a parade and community gathering for fun and entertainment in the historic Grant County Court House. The summertime Farmer’s Market features local produce, crafts and entertainment on the weekends. The Basin Summer Sounds Music Festival heats up downtown in July. The Mint Explosion, Ephrata’s winter celebration, features a mint cooking contest, a lighted holiday parade and fantastic fireworks. ECONOMY Ephrata is made up of "Family-Owned Small Businesses", serves as the Grant County Seat, home of government based entities such as the Grant County PUD, the Federal Bureau of Reclamation and The Port of Ephrata, which is one of the largest recreational airports in Washington State. The Port of Ephrata features more than 2,000 acres of industrial and commercial land. SCHOOLS Public schools for Ephrata’s young population include Columbia Ridge and Grant Elementary Schools, Parkway School, Ephrata Middle School, Ephrata High and Sage Hills High School. Private schools include New Life Christian School and St. Rose of Lima Catholic School. Big Bend Community College and Wenatchee Valley College present higher education opportunities for residents, in addition to Washington State and Central Washington Universities. |
